Why this world exists
“Create the world you want to live in.”
Jordan and Danyelle have spent time imagining another world — one with cities, families, technology, wealth, politics, corruption, joy and conflict — but with one fundamental difference: Black people were never born into a civilization that taught them their skin made them less.
In this world, Blackness was never something to recover from. Its beauty, power and influence were understood from the beginning. Somewhere along the way, we stopped only asking what that world might look like. We started building it.
The first fracture in history
History saysthey drowned.
But what if the Atlantic was not the end? What if beneath the water there was a passage — a portal, a veil — and the people history says disappeared emerged somewhere else entirely? Not enslaved. Not powerless. Free. Powerful. Building.
People on the other side
Five files have surfaced.
Their stories do not begin in the same place, and they will not move in a straight line. Each one opens another corner of the universe.
